As per reports, Twitter is working on a new sign-in feature which is Sign-in with Apple. Jane Manchun, the researcher has said that if Twitter launches this feature to the general public then users will be able to sign in to Twitter using their Apple ID.
Wong has also discovered several different shreds of evidence all of which hints at twitter designing a new sign-in method using their Apple ID. 9to5Mac reported that among all the evidence, one of them is a new “Connected accounts” feature that lists Apple as an option for signing in.
Twitter explained, “These are the social accounts you connected to your Twitter account to log in. you can disable access here.”
The report also said that Apple gives the users the option to upgrade an existing account to Sign in with Apple to certain applications and websites. However, this isn’t required for developers to adopt Sign In with Apple. Thus, it isn’t clear if Twitter will be supporting this feature for completely converting your account to Sign In with Apple.
Now, to use the Sign in with Apple feature, the users need to have two-factor authentication turned on and is signed on to iCloud with the same Apple ID on their Apple device.
This platform was first introduced by Apple at the WWDC 2019 making it a tracking-free way of signing in to different apps and services. When it comes to Sign in with Apple, Apple has very strict guidelines.
Twitter for iOS usually uses its own sign-in system and doesn’t depend on any third-party systems. However, if Twitter is planning on adding other sign-in options, it will have to add Sign In with Apple support as well, the report said.
There isn’t any word on when this feature will be launched but as per Wong’s evidence, Apple is working on it as of now.
