Collaboration Of Google And Samsung For Wear OS Announced At Google I/O 2021

Google has teamed up with Samsung in the past as well; hence it doesn’t shock the users when we hear about their collaboration. However, this time the two companies have teamed up for the Wear OS. This was announced in the ongoing Google I/O. the best of Wear OS and Tizen are being brought together on a single platform. The entire aim of this collaboration is to provide faster performance, longer battery life, and give the users options for more apps on their wrist.

Google has declared that the companies partnering up is to make apps start 30% faster on the latest chipsets and also to make the animations and motion present on the UI smoother. Google said, “To achieve longer battery life, we’ve worked to optimize the lower layers of the operating system-taking advantage of low-power hardware cores to enable better battery life.” There are other features too that include the “ability to run the heart rate sensor continuously during the day, track your sleep overnight, and still have battery for the next day.” Better apps and watch faces can be made easily on this unified platform.

Another main aim of this collaboration is to provide users with facilities to do things faster from their wrist. This can be done by the shortcuts to the important functions that will be given. The functions include going back to the previous app, better customizations for the home screen carousel, and more app options.

Some other features to be included are Google Maps and Google Assistant. Both of these are being revamped so that they can be compatible with the watch. Google Pay will also be upgraded and will get support in 26 countries. Along with these, YouTube Music will be added on Wear OS and it will be having the Smart Download feature as well. To make health and fitness tracking better and easier, Fitbit’s features will also be included.

Some other tools like Tiles API and watch face design editor by Samsung will be available. Using these, apps for the Wear OS can be made easily. Also new apps and coming to the platform. Not just this, some old apps like Strava, Addidas Running, Bitmoji, etc are being upgraded so that can work on the Wear OS.
