You Can Now Filter Out Abusive DMs On Instagram

Instagram has launched a new feature wherein users can stop seeing abusive messages. They can filter offensive words, phrases, and even emojis and this is how they can stop viewing abusive messages.

On Wednesday, the company has said that not only this filter option for direct messages but they will also be making it difficult for a user’s blocked contacts to contact them through a new account.

Facebook Inc’s Instagram is more popular among youngsters nowadays than Facebook. Instagram has been working to stop the promotion of hate speech and online abuses for some time now.

This filter can be enabled in the privacy settings on Instagram. A user can include words, phrases, and emojis which they want to block or do not want to receive in their message requests

Instagram said, “Users can use their discretion to report, delete, or open messages, which will be sorted into a hidden requests folder.”

Instagram further said that this feature will come to some countries in the coming weeks and this feature is for direct message requests only and not for the inbox itself.

In a few weeks, users will also be able to block people who they don’t want them to contact completely after blocking their account.
