Apple India has reported a massive 93% growth year-on-year in 2020 solely on the basis of the sales of three iPhone models. The three iPhone models are iPhone 11, iPhone SE and iPhone XR. These three iPhone models have helped Apple for the first time double its Indian smartphone market share.
This news comes from a new report published by IDC. Apple CEO Tim Cook has also acknowledged that the newly launched Apple online store has helped garner a lot of sales for the company in India. Tim Cook has also mention that Apple is ready to launch retail outlets in the country. At the moment, the company sells its iPhones through partner resellers and its all online store but there is no official Apple retail outlet yet.
Apple is also manufacturing certain iPhone models in the country itself. Apple had a very good 2020. In the second half, the pent-up demand combined with aggressive pricing, especially by the etailers, really drove its growth,” Navkendar Singh, Research Director, Client Devices & IPDS, IDC India.
