New iMac With Retina 5K Display Launched

imacApple at an event launched a completely new iMac. The 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display has the highest resolution screen in the world. The screen has a 5K display which is seven times more than the pixels of a normal HDTV. The screen of the iMac is built upon the technology Apple uses for its iPhone and iPad.

The new Retina iMac is just 5mm in thickness which is same as previous iMac. In order to maximize details, the display has a greater contrast ratio. To ensure a lower power consumption, Apple uses power-saving LEDS that reduce the power use by 30%. The recently launched iPad Mini 3 is 45% faster in terms of graphics than the last version. 27-inch iMac with 5K Retina display also has a thunderbolt 2 port that ensures faster IO transfers.

The base model for the Retina iMac will include a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMX Radeon R9 M290X graphics, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB Fusion Drive. Other iMac models will continue to sell and will not undergo any discontinuation as of now. Apple will start shipping the new Retina iMac from today and the price for this model would start at $2,499.

The retina iMac will have the world’s best display. Dubbed – “Retina 5K Display”.
