Once again Apple is approaching another big milestone for the amount of downloads they have had on the App Store. “The App Store is about to hit 25 billion downloads” is what is being shown on Apple’s page at present along with a live feed which records each download that is being made from the App Store. This feed will be present on the Apple website until the 25th billion App has been downloaded, the person who does so will receive a prize of $10,000 to spend within the App Store (or iTunes + iBook Store) via a gift card.
Jonathan Ive or Sir Jonathan Ive has been granted knighthood for “services to design and enterprise”, 6 years after receiving a CBE for “services to the design industry”. The U.K born designer joined Apple in 1992 and gained recognition as Senior Vice President of Industrial Design in 1997 after desining the first iMac, which kicked Apple back into the computer market after Steve Jobs’ return.
Apple has launched a new TV Ad for the all new iPod touch which is now also available in white. The Ad is titled “Share the Fun” and focuses on gaming featuring many different games from the App Store and how they are all integrated with Game Center that makes playing with friends incredibly amazing. We were all disappointed when Siri wouldn’t appear on our iPhone 4 and iPad, but now 2 young hackers, euwars and rudolf77 have managed to come up with a jail break for the iPod touch so it can run Apple’s new assistant.
As you may have guessed, Siri isn’t fully functional on the iPod touch as it has to be connected to the internet to get a response from Apple’s servers, and these servers aren’t allowing Siri on an iPod touch to access it. From what I have interpreted from this, there is going to be a future update that will allow the ability to get a response from Siri and have the compatibility to function on other iOS devices.
