If you have been up to date with all the iPad 3 rumors lately, you will notice that the preliminary iPad 3 resolution is rumored to be 2048 x 1536. This is all great, but will the current LED lighting work efficiently on that type of resolution? Two Taiwan LED backlight vendors don’t seam to think so. According to a report by Digitimes, Apple and other handheld device manufacturers are planning to release their future devices with a medium-sized curving glass display, probably in the first half of next year.
“Suppliers of the non-Apple camp are working on products with curved cover glass in attempts to gain a competitive edge in the handheld device market dominated by Apple, sources in the glass industry said.
But Apple reportedly also has bought glass polishing equipment for its suppliers in preparation for the production of devices fitted with curved cover glass. Lens Technology, Fuji Crystal, G-Tech are said to be major cover glass suppliers of Apple. While Lens and Fuji focus on iPhones, G-Tech supplies mainly for iPad.”
A new rumor suggests that the screen resolution of the next generation iPad would be 2048X1536, twice the size of the current generation tablet from Apple. Just as the iPhone, Apple plans to retain the 9.7 inch size of the tablet, but increase the screen resolution to offer a better display solution.
