Apple is reportedly working on its own vaporizer that uses high temperatures to ‘cause the substance to sublimate or vaporize’ and could be used for both solid and liquid chemicals, hinting the use of the unit for marijuana. The patent application doesn’t mention whether it’s a standalone product intended for recreational use.  Read More

Apple’s iOS 10.2.1 Update Now Available

The new update by Apple i.e. the 10.2.1 has been rolled out to all the compatible iOS devices, providing major bug fixes and crucial security updates. It weighs 72MB in size and includes 11 focused fixes around WebKit, the browser engine behind Safari, the App Store, and lots of iOS apps. There have been no significant user changes elsewhere. It is recommended to install this update as soon as possible to avoid malware and other such issues.

Apple Sues Qualcomm Over Royalties For Over $1 Billion

Apple has filed suit against the world’s biggest chip maker and supplier company, Qualcomm, and suing it for over $ 1 billion, for “charging royalties for technologies they have nothing to do with”.  The suit follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit against Qualcomm earlier this week over unfair patent licensing practices.

The company said in its suit that Qualcomm should be paid royalties based on the value of its particular contribution, not for contributions from other patent holders. Currently, Qualcomm’s royalties are based off the selling price of a phone, rather than what portion Qualcomm’s technology enabled.

Cyanogen Fails To Kill Android, Shuts Down Itself

The ambitious startup that aimed to build a better version of Android than Google, has laid off staff, let go of its CEO and parted ways with another co-founder, and is now shutting down its services and nightly software builds on December 31. The company revealed that the move is a part of the ongoing unification of Cyanogen. With this, CyanogenMod will be killed though the company has also confirmed its next open-source initiative designated as LineageOS.
