Apple To Now Manufacture iPhones In India

The year 2016 started off on a promising note for Apple. During his maiden visit to India, Mr. Tim Cook, the chief executive officer, announced the setting up of an app development centre in Bengaluru and another one in Hyderabad for maps. The news has now been confirmed officially. The facility will start production from next April, according to industry sources.

Mr. Cook met the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi earlier this year and discussed sensitive issues relating to cyber-security, data encryption, the possibility of fabricating the production in the country and extracting India’s young talent.  The Apple CEO appreciated the breadth of young talent in India with significant skills that Apple would like to acquire and the immense potential for ‘app-development’ in the country.

Apple To Reduce Production Of iPhones By 30%

Around 60% of Apple’s yearly revenue is generated from the sale of the iPhone. However, it is believed that they will be allegedly reducing orders of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to suppliers by as much as 30 percent this quarter. A recent  report by the Wall Street Journal states that Apple’s iPhone production is slowing down. According to “three sources familiar with Apple’s supply chain”, the company has reduced orders to suppliers, leading to layoffs and idle capacity at Apple’s Chinese suppliers. The claims are backed up by a $12 million grant given to Foxconn, Apple’s primary iPhone manufacturer, by the Chinese government in order to minimize layoffs. Read More

Users Ditching Their Android For iPhones

Apple’s chief executive, Tim Cook, has claimed that more Android users than ever are switching to the iPhone. Apple has also revealed that they have sold 48 million iPhones during its fourth financial quarter, 30 % of which were users that ditched their Androids (Google’s operating system) and bought an iPhone.
