Following massive success in several different markets, tech giant Apple may now be looking to enter the mobile gaming sector. Approximately three years ago, the Cupertino-based company had introduced a dedicated, subscription-based gaming service for iPhones and iPads which it called Apple Arcade. Now, as per a few patent filings that were made public recently, Apple seems to be planning on debut dedicated gaming controllers for its mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads.

According to reports by Patently Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant has been working on several kinds of dedicated gaming accessories for mobile devices. Apple has reportedly filed a couple of patents that detail three different kinds of gaming controllers that can be attached to iPhones and iPads.

The first patent has been filed in the US, and in it, Apple detailed different gaming controllers that will be able to magnetically attach to an iPhone and iPad. These will also include smart foldable carrying cases. Apple’s Euro patent filings show different kinds of gaming accessories that can provide the same gaming experience to iPhone and iPad users.

The first Euro patent shows a gaming accessory that has traditional looks. It can attach to the top and bottom or the sides of an iPhone or an iPad. It provides a D-pad, and likely an analog controller as well. The second one includes a D-pad, a few control buttons, and a secondary display. This display may be used to show users in-game information, such as a player’s HP, or it can allow users to reply to messages while playing various titles.

Besides these, the tech giant also showed a gaming accessory that looks like an Xbox that can wirelessly connect to a mobile device. From the patent images, it appears that the device will have four control buttons, two analog sticks, a menu button, and a dedicated slider to switch between gaming mode, phone mode, and messaging mode. The slider will help users to receive an incoming call or reply to a message while gaming on their devices.
