Apple’s upcoming series of iPhone 14 may have considerably faster and better WiFi connectivity, suggest reports by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to predictions by the TF Securities analyst, the new iPhone 14 series will likely support WiFi 6E. Additionally, Kuo suggests that the iPhone 14 series might not be Apple’s only set of devices with WiFi 6E support. Apple’s much speculated about headset is likely to include WiFi 6E support. Moreover, he suggests that this move by Apple will likely spur their competitors to also equip their future devices with this feature.
Artificial Reality and Virtual Reality, AR and VR, appear to be the cause behind this move. Devices with WiFi 6E support will be able to optimally deliver high-speed wireless transmission rates, which is essential in order to properly experience AR and VR. Although he does not specifically mention Apple, it is speculated that Apple devices are the implied subject. According to Kuo, “head-mounted display devices in 2022, 2023, and 2024 will offer Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 6E/7, and Wi-Fi 7, respectively.”
Speculation about the much anticipated AR/VR headset device by Apple has previously included the possibility of WiFi 6E support. However, this is the first time that the rumors about this feature for the headset are in conjunction with mentions of iPhone 14. It had been previously predicted that the iPhone 13 series would be equipped with this tech; however, the devices turned out differently.
WiFi 6E possesses all the capabilities of WiFi 6, including low latency, fast data speed, and high performance. Moreover, it offers an increased bandwidth and less interference due to its additional spectru,. thus giving WiFi 6E an edge over WiFi 6.
