Good news for WhatsApp users who use WhatsApp payments. As per reports, WhatsApp is thinking of giving cashback to users who make payments through WhatsApp Payments. As per a report in WABetaInfo, a cashback feature is under development. This might be to attract more and more users to use WhatsApp Pay. This feature is under works and not available for the users.
In their report, WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot wherein there is a new banner that is seen above the chat list with a gift icon and a message is there that reads, “Get cashback on your next payment” and “Tap to get started”. Also, the report says that this feature will be available only to the Indian users of WhatsApp and any payment made above Rs.10 will be eligible for cashback.
WhatsApp Pay is a UPI-based system. It was launched back in 2018 but was removed from beta in November 2020. Google on the other hand also offers UPI based payment system, Google Pay also provides cashback and rewards on transactions. According to a report in Economic Times, WhatsApp is making people aware of its payment services and is planning a huge ad campaign around the services soon.
Mahesh Mahatme, director, head of WhatsApp Pay, India, told ET, “As we go forward, we would be employing more marketing efforts to help people understand and unlock the payments potential on WhatsApp, which is as simple as sending a picture. Digital payments adoption is a key step in our country’s digital financial journey and with payments on WhatsApp, we aim to be a significant contributor to India’s agenda of financial inclusion.”
