Lost Item Tracking Device AirTag Launched

Apple has launched its much-awaited product, the AirTags in its Spring Loaded event. This new device allows the user to find lost items like bags, wallets, and keys.

On the product launch, Apple said that this looks like a small white and metal puck. This can be attached to a key chain easily. For the price point, an individual AirTag will cost $29. Also, it will be coming in packs of four which will cost $99. This gadget will be available for pre-order from April 30. This device will work with an updated version of Apple’s ‘Find My’ app. Not only will it work on the main products of Apple but it will also add third-party items to the company’s service so that items can be tracked.

These AirTags have been in the manufacturing process for more than two years now. Bloomberg News has reported about these several times. Bloomberg had previously reported that this device was supposed to come around last year during the time of the launch of the iPhone 12 but it was delayed.

The AirTags come with built-in speakers. These play a sound and help the users with precise tracking. It is also IP67 which makes it both water and dust resistant. Apple has said during the launch that the AirTag comes with a U1 chip using Ultra-Wideband Technology and this will result in accurate tracking.

The company explained, “This advanced technology can more accurately determine the distance and direction to a lost AirTag when it is in range. As a user moves, Precision Finding fuses input from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope, and then will guide them to AirTag using a combination of sound, haptics, and visual feedback.”

If someone loses their AirTag, then it can also be put into Lost Mode and the user will be alerted when it is nearby or if it has been tracked by the Find My network.
