Bloomberg is out with its own report, following a report from Ming-Chi Kuo giving a range of new information on the 2021 MacBook Pro update. Additional specifics on the return of MagSafe are added to the article, and a redesign for the MacBook Air is teased.
Kuo announced that for the 2021 MacBook Pro, which will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch variations, Apple has some big improvements in store in case you skipped it overnight. A flat-edged style identical to the Phone 12 and iPad Pro is rumored to be embraced by the latest MacBook Pro, adding more IO ports on the hands, taking back MagSafe charging, and ditching the notorious Touch Bar.
The report confirms that MagSafe for charging will be included in the latest MacBook Pro, with the added information that this will allow the laptops to charge at a faster rate.
Additional detail on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro displays, which are supposed to use mini-LED, is also included in the study.
The report also teases the fact that Apple is “planning a redesigned MacBook Air” as well, but it will not be announced until “long after the next MacBook Pros.”
Notably, we had earlier learned that in 2022, Apple would announce a more affordable MacBook Air. It is uncertain if this is the same unit, or whether Apple may be considering a redesigned version at a cheaper price and leaving the original MacBook Air around.
