Sony has just announced the release of their new Spatial Reality Display. This brings about a new era of glasses-free 3D. Although it packs a punch for $5000, a 15.6-inch 4K screen might not be the ideal choice with regards to the general public.
The wedge is Sony’s new Spatial Reality Display although it is not a new idea. It is simply the company’s attempt on a holographic display for mechanical engineers and content creators who would prefer to visualize objects and designs in their physical space.
The price of the new display is justifiable since it lets multiple people view the object at once, has a 15.6-inch screen and a 4K looking glass.
Sony announced that it has already tested out the new display with engineers at companies such as Volkswagen, Ghostbusters studios and “one of the largest architectural firms in the world”. The company does not plan to limit partners and is willing to open up for direct sales with anyone who might be interested in the display, starting from November.
