Apple Oakridge Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia will permanently close on September 26 exactly after 11 years of its opening. The closure was foreseen in view of the announcement made last month about redevelopment efforts that would shutter the majority of Oakridge Centre until 2024.
Last month, Oakridge Centre owner QuadReal announced that most retailers will have to shut down by the end of September in order to aid the construction process for one of Vancouver’s most significant development projects, while also giving a detailed construction timeline for the same. Apple recently updated its website for Apple Oakridge Centre to announce the last day that the store will remain open to customers will be September 26.
The Centre officially opened, exactly 11 years ago from the day it will permanently close, on September 26, 2009. A brand new flagship store is scheduled to be a part of the redesigned Oakridge Centre. Apple has not revealed any details regarding its design or a timeline for opening.
The permanent closure of the Apple Oakridge Centre of Vancouver will leave the city’s citizens with five more nearby options for Apple shopping and support. Apple’s website has a complete list of stores. The nearest location to Oakridge Centre is Apple Pacific Centre.
Only seven other Apple Stores have ever permanently closed in the history of Apple Retail.
