Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 6 at its September special event. The new series will have the same design as the previous two models, Series 4 and Series 5. On the contrary, it will have internal improvements, including an oximeter sensor.
It is very similar to the older models and will be available in 40mm and 44mm with an always-on Retina display. It also comes with an oximeter sensor that helps in measuring blood oxygen levels.
Blood oxygen levels between 95% and 100% are considered healthy while blood oxygen levels below 80% may lead to compromised heart and brain functionality. A person is at risk of respiratory or cardiac arrest after continued low blood oxygen saturation. The Apple Watch will trigger a notification for the user if it detects a blood oxygen level below a certain threshold.
The Apple Watch Series 6 will come with a new faster S6 chip supporting faster performance. It will also come with new sensors, including an altimeter. It also comes equipped with several new watch faces, including a new Memoji theme.
Apple Watch Series 6 will be available in stores this Friday, September 18, with prices starting at $399. It will be joined by the new lower-cost Apple Watch SE, which starts at $279. Pre-orders starts today in the United States and other countries.
