WhatsApp’s New Update Brings New Features For iOS, Android, KaiOS And WhatsApp Web Users

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp, has revealed a host of new features for users on iPhone, Android and WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp on Wednesday announced that the messaging app will be getting Animated Stickers, Dark Mode for web, QR codes, enhanced Video Calls and disappearing status feature for KaiOS. It was long reported by WABetaInfo that the company is testing QR codes and working on Animated Stickers feature and now finally WhatsApp has started testing it. Another highly awaited feature is the multi-device support, that the messaging app has been working on for the longest time now and can be out for testing any time soon.

Let us look at the five newly released features by WhatsApp:

Animated stickers – To make the chatting experience more fun, users will now be able to view animated sticker packs from the stack, download and send them. Additionally, the stickers can be forwarded and starred. But, as reported by WABetaInfo, the stickers lack a loop system and play only once, after which it lags. Hopefully, WhatsApp will work on it before its available widely.
QR codes – With this feature, adding a contact becomes seamless. The user will be able to scan the QR code of a particular contact and add them on their WhatsApp, eliminating the need to type and save the number. Every user will have a unique QR code for their contact.
Dark Mode for Web – Android and iOS users have had the dark mode for long now. Finally, the web version of the app will support the feature too.
Group Video Calls – WhatsApp had recently extended the limit of participants on video call from 4 to 8 and added an icon in the top right of the chat box to start the video call with just one tap in groups of 8 or less. As an add-on feature, users will now be able to focus on a particular participant by enlarging the participant’s video feed to full-screen (tap and hold the participant’s video)
Disappearing Status for KaiOS – WhatsApp has introduced the 24-hrs disappearing status feature for KaiOS. The feature was already available for iOS and Android users.
