Google Play Pass launched in 2019 in the US, allowing subscribers to access to hundreds of select Android apps and games without ads and in-app purchases for a monthly fee. With the latest update, Google is expanding the subscription-based game store by entering into new markets, adding more titles and a new subscription plan. The Android alternative to Apple’s game store Apple Arcade, will now be available to users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the UK, this week.
Google is also offering a new subscription plan which will be a little easy on users pocket if they opt for the yearly plan. Play Pass offers its users a $1.99 per month promotional subscription for the first year, which would increase to $4.99 per month later on. In addition the the monthly plan, Google now offers an annual subscription plan for $29.99 per year in the U.S, which is approximately $2.50 per month. Users who have already subscribed to the monthly plan will be able to shift to the new plan.
The company has been constantly growing its lineup since the launch. The game store debuted with 350 apps, and now with more than 150 apps added over the past few months, Google Play Pass has to offer its users a wide range of 500+ premium apps. The tech giant announced the addition of new apps, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Golf Peaks, and kid friendly options like Sesame Workshop, Learny Land, and more.
With a larger catalog of apps and more coming over the next year, Google Play Pass is all set to compete with Apple Arcade.
