OnePlus on Tuesday announced on its forum that the company would soon be launching a new affordable smartphone series. Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus stated that the company would “start relatively small” as OnePlus initially plans to release the affordable series in Europe and India and expand to North America in the near future. It has to be noted that the company has not launched a mid-range device post the OnePlus X that was released in October 2015 but failed in the market.
The announce of a new phone series comes just months after OnePlus launched OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro as a part of its flagship lineup. OnePlus understands that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price.
Although there is no statement by OnePlus specifying the name of the new series, the company added a link to its forum directing the users to a private Instagram account. Later on Tuesday, the company posted a morse code message that translates to ‘July’, which suggests a confirmation of its debut in July.
The phone is expected to be a mid-range device tipped to carry a price tag of Rs 24,990. It is thought to include a 6.55 inch super AMOLED display with 90Hz screen refresh rate, powered by Snapdragon 765 processor and carry a triple camera system in the rear with a 64MP primary shooter along with a 16MP and 2MP shooters having a variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
