OnePlus is planning to come up with their own wearable that is expected to be launched with the OnePlus 8 smartphone next year. The company had scrapped the plans for a wearable device back in 2015 but because of the changing trends these past few years, they have now decided to release a smartwatch anyways.
PhoneArena reported that OnePlus watch is currently a work in progress and almost ready for primetime. As of now, there is no information about the specification of this wearable but it may run on WearOS by Google based on their current partnership with the tech giant.
OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 7T series including the McLaren edition which comes with a massive 12GB RAM. We also got to see the launch of the first smart TV from OnePlus but we did not see the launch of any wearable device from the company. This means that the OnePlus smartwatch may be launched at the next event in May-June 2020.
One of the hint came from Twitter where one wrote: For all of you who have a fitness band right now, darlings, or are planning to acquire one shortly, I have two words: never settle. While a few other tech writers have also stated that OnePlus will be soon foraying into the wearable market.
The company has always been open to the idea for a smartwatch from the beginning but never took a decision in haste. The rise in the sales of smartwatches from brands like Apple and Fitbit in the past two years has seriously boosted the wearable market.
