Xiaomi has launched its new Redmi 8 smartphone in India at a price of Rs 7,999. This new phone is a successor to the Redmi 7 that was launched last year. Feature wise,the Redmi 8 is quite similar to the Redmi 8A which costs Rs 6,499. This makes Redmi 8 a bit expensive but still affordable for the Indian masses.
The Redmi 8 will come in two variants – 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The 3GB RAM model will cost buyers Rs 7,999 while the 4GB Ram model will sell for Rs 8,999. As a token of appreciation for having sold 100 million smartphones in the last 5 years, the company will be selling the first 5 million of the 4GB+32GB model for just Rs 7,999.
This new smartphone has pretty good specs. It comes with a 6.22-inch full screen HD display with the added protection of Gorila Glass 5. The rear camera setup houses the 12MP Sony363 sensor with Dual PD and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, you get the 8MP camera for shooting selfies along with the AI portrait mode and the support for Google Lens.
The most key feature of the Redmi 8 is the battery. The phone has a massive 5000mAh battery with the support for 18W fast charging. Apart from this, you have Dual SIM card slot, a microSD card slot expandable up to 512GB,U SB Type C, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.2, fingerprint sensor and face unlock.
The Redmi 8 has Xiaomi’s Aura Mirror design and will be available in the colors of Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, and Onyx Black.
