YouTube has added a new top charts category on the YouTube Music App. This will make it easier for people to search for all the new and trending songs with the help of the most played, most viewed and hottest lists that will be shown on the App.
Google released a blog post for this new addition and said that India has long been one of the most unique and vibrant music markets in the world. Nowhere is that more visible than on YouTube and they look forward to celebrating the success of the artists, songs and music videos that are resonating with Indian music fans.
In these music charts, YouTube will be calculating the top songs, artists, music videos and whatever is trending based on how many views that content has received and also depending on if the song is used in lyric videos and user generated content.
Speaking about Trending charts, Google described it as ‘YouTube’s first dedicated external signal highlighting videos which were instantly popular upon release’. They already offer these top charts on the web over at charts.youtube.com and will now be shown to the Indian users of the YouTube Music App.
The charts included in the App are separated as four playlists – Top 100 music videos globally and locally, Top 30 Trending chart and Top 100 most played songs. The company also mentioned that in a country like India where there are 265 million users every month, YouTube Charts will be the fastest way to check what’s trending and rising both locally and globally.
