Snapchat has added a new filter which automatically lets you click 3D selfies. This new addition will make use of Snapchat’s image sensing technology combined with the the true depth data on your smartphone to render the snap in 3D. It will be the first time that we will see the 3D filter combined with Lenses on this App.
When you click a selfie in 3D mode, the resulting image can be viewed in different angles based on the movement of the phone and it will actually look as if the image is popping out of the screen. The best part is that you can add your own lenses and filters on this reconstructed 3D image and even preview it before sending it on the App.
The whole concept is great and it really makes the image come to life with the 3D rendering. If you are receiving an image from a person who has clicked it in 3D mode, you can simply change the perspective or the way you are holding your smartphone to view it. Currently, the 3D filter is only available on smartphones that have a front-facing camera with depth data such as the newer iPhone models. But for those who are on the receiving end of the 3D image, you can view it from any smartphone that also includes Android.
Snapchat is coming up with many new features and additions on their App to attract more users and the company is also launching Spectacles 3 very soon.
