Apple’s yearly launch event is less than a week away and new reports are saying that the company could also refresh the Apple TV alongside new iPhones and new Apple Watches. The Apple TV has not been updated since its last update in 2017 and it could well be a sign of relief for users expecting a new Apple TV device.
The news about Apple TV update was first spotted on Macrumors who said that the info was shared by the Twitter account @never_released aka Longhorn. They have shared codenames of Apple hardware in the past which makes the claim even more reliable. The tweet reads as ‘Apple TV refresh is incoming. It bumps the SoC to an Apple A12’ and in another tweet says ‘AppleTV11,1 is J305AP’.
The current model of Apple TV runs on the A10X Fusion chip which supports the ability to play videos in 4K. An upgrade to the A12 Chip, used on iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and latest iPad Pros, will incredibly boost the capability of the new Apple TV.
Apple has not given any official confirmation about the release of the new Apple TV and it has to be taken with a pinch of salt as of now. But speaking of Apple TV, the company will be rolling out its video streaming service Apple TV plus by the end of this year which will completely change the scenario for Apple TV users around the world. Apple has invested billions of dollars in original shows for this platform which will start streaming after the launch.
