We all know that Apple has faced issues with the MacBook keyboard in the recent past and now the company is taking steps to refresh the design of the keyboard for future lineup of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air that are expected to release by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
Apple is planning to include the scissor switch keyboard, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He makes reports based on the information sourced from inside of Apple’s supply chain department. If Ming’s reports are to be believed, this new mechanism will be better and easier to use compared to the butterfly keyboard mechanism that faced a lot of flack by the users.
Kuo further said that Apple is likely to include the scissor-switch keyboard mechanism in the new MacBook Air that is due to be released in 2019. And this will also extend to the new range of MacBook Pros which will hit the markets in 2020.
The highly flawed butterfly mechanism which never really worked for Apple even after trying to fix and introduce it again in the 2017-2018 models. Users had experienced a number of problems with this keyboard, including dropped and repeated keystrokes. This was due to the debris formed under the keyboard and it was tough to remove unless you want Apple to replace the keyboard for you, which is free.
Having faulty keyboards really affects the user experience and this had badly impacted Apple’s sales. As Kuo mentioned, the company is taking steps to correct this issue and get back to the scissor switch keyboard that was originally used before 2015.
