After revamping many of their native Apps with the Material Theme design, Google has now redesigned the Play Store itself with the same. The testing phase of this new update was going on back in April and the company is now officially rolling out the new Play Store for all Android users.
The new design has major changes like the tab for Apps, Games, Movies, Audio-books which used to have different colors of green, red and blue is now in plain white and they have been placed at the bottom of the page. Also, the search bar reads as ‘Search for’ under whichever category you are instead of ‘Google Play’.
The top bar now has these tabs – For you, Top charts, Categories, Editors’ choice, Family, Early access. These used to be the second bar below the colored bar but now since that bar has been shifted at the bottom, you can clearly access the top charts easily without having to search for it.
The font used for content in each section is different from previous font and also the More option has been replaced with an arrow. Apart from this, you can also see new Material Theme elements like buttons with faint outlines, pills and tab indicators.
The Material Theme revamp is Google’s way of saying that we are not going to stop here and keep improving the App interface no matter how it looks and also the recent changes in the way reviews are displayed on the Play Store, it is evident that Google wants to have the best user experience on all fronts.
