A new report by Sensor Tower shows that TikTok has topped the App Store Charts for the fifth time. The app ranked over YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger among other popular Apps across different categories. TikTok was already ranking on top in the last four quarters and it’s once again ranking high in this quarter, which makes it 5 in a row.
We all know that TikTok has been in the midst of several controversies and they have also been fined for letting young kids use this App. But that has not slowed down the ever growing climb of this App and it has taken the App industry by storm over the past year or so. This is not only true for App Store, but the App has doing extremely well on Google Play Store too where it stands at position number 3 after WhatsApp and Messenger.
On the App Store, TikTok received more than 150 million installs in the first quarter of 2019. While on the Play Store, it was close to 89 million downloads where most of them were signed up as new users. But speaking about the upcoming quarter, the sources claim that the App may not be able to retain this top position because it lost close to 15 million users because of its ban in India recently. This impacted TikTok very badly. But the ban had been lifted by the High Court In India in April and the App is back again on the App Store and Play Store for Indian users.
