Google’s plan with the Google glasses back in 2013 did not end very well as this device was eventually scrapped in a few years. Maybe the consumers didn’t like it or maybe it was too early for an AR glass in the market. Now, the company is now back again with a new version of AR glasses which is priced around $999. However, the device will not be available directly to the consumers since the company will be marketing it only to the corporate users.
We have seen the ability of AR and how it can change the world if shaped up and executed in the right way. Google also aims to do the same with these AR glasses and is now targeting the business world by renaming the device as “Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2“. Most of the components and hardware have been upgraded and the glasses now run Android which is fantastic.
Speaking about the specifications, this wearable AR glass runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 platform which powers most of the AR and VR applications that you see around you on different platforms. It also has the quad-core 1.7 GHz CPU processor, which is extremely powerful combined with the battery capacity of 820mAh. Users will not have to worry about low battery as it comes with a USB-C port for fast charging. This will ensure that they can wear the glasses for longer duration.
The Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 will have two models- frameless glass and another one with a safety frame provided by Smith Optics which can be used in rigid environments.
