Google is now extending its Podcasts services from Android to the web on iOS and desktop. This does not include a separate App for these platforms but the users can listen to any desired podcast directly from the Google Search. They just have to search for a podcast via Google search on the web and they will see a list of all the episodes that can be heard instantly.
The company had launched the Podcasts App last year specifically for Android users and for those who own Google Assistant supported smart speakers. A lot of people took advantage of this which helped them listen to podcasts in a few taps. It’s been going great for the company so far with several users using this service which is absolutely free. Still, we are not sure if Google will charge users in the future.
Basically, upon finishing the podcast search on Google, the users can see all the recent episodes from that podcast. From here, they will be taken to podcasts.google.com which has a very similar user interface to the Android counterpart. This is applicable for users searching on both iOS devices and desktop. The play/pause controls, rewind 10 seconds/forward 30 seconds and playback speed for podcasts will remain same for all these platforms.
The functionality of Podcasts is very basic and clean. This is why it works for most users who don’t have to keep searching for their favorite episodes and they also get frequent recommendations that are related to what they are listening.
