Snapchat Gets Its Own Gaming Platform

Snapchat announced a list of new features and updates today including Snap Games, original content and Virtual Reality. But the feature to actually look out for is the gaming platform called “Snap Games”. The company has finally launched it on the App and the initial reactions of the users seems to be good.

The first game that makes it to the Snap games is Bitmoji Party, which is a multi-player offering from the company and offers users with a unique experience all round. The game is aimed to grab the attention of the users and make them spend more time in the App.

The Verge reported:

The mini-games in Bitmoji Party have users playing zombies trying to infect one another, jumping to avoid a giant boot that will kick them through goalposts, or staying afloat on a pool toy. The person who starts the game is the “game master,” and gets to initiate the havoc.

Apart from the original games, Snapchat will also include incredible games from third-party App developers such as Zynga Inc’s Tiny Royale, Spry Fox’s Alphabear Hustle, ZeptoLab’s C.A.T.S. Drift Race, Game Closure’s Snake Squad, PikPok’s Zombie Rescue Squad. Users can access the games from the main “Chat” messaging feature on the App.

Will Wu, director of product at Snap said:

We wanted to build something that makes us feel like we’re playing a board game with family over a long holiday weekend. Something that makes us feel like we’re sitting with friends, controllers in hand, looking at the same screen.
