Google released a new advertisement today which gives a hint on the new upcoming Pixel phones. The video features the action from Avengers:Endgame and how people make use of a Pixel phone to live the excitement with the AR Playmoji stickers that are based on the Avengers cast. A teaser page on the Google Store shows this ad along with the title “Help is on the way”.
The main indication for the launch of Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL comes from this tagline displayed on the same page:
Something big is coming to the Pixel universe.
The power is in your hands. Sign up for updates about what’s arriving in May.
Google will be holding the 2019 I/O Keynote event on May 7th and we can expect the company launch the new Pixel phones at this event. The Verge reported in detail about this:
Details about both have leaked over the last few months (even on Google’s own website), with Google expected to introduce the pair of devices at a lower price point than the flagship Pixel 3 and 3 XL that were launched last year. The 3a line will reportedly offer the same camera performance, which has become Google’s signature strength, but make downgrades elsewhere including build (these are rumored to be plastic-backed phones), screen resolution, and processing power.
The partnership with Avengers is being done most likely to boost the sales of Pixel devices and get more people to make use of AR related features. Also, if the company does launch the new Pixel devices on May 7th, it would be interesting to see the design and specifications on offer.
