A new leak by Japanese site Macotakara claims that Apple is developing iPhone 11 with a square shaped triple lens camera setup. The site seems to have reportedly confirmed this with Apple’s supply chain who said that the rumour is true. We have seen a few renders of the iPhone 11 in the past few months, but nothing comes close to this latest leak.
A lot of talk has been going regarding the camera setup in the iPhone 11, where many believed that Apple would finally include a three lens camera frame on the back. This could soon be for real considering the leak and the concept images for the same. The triple lens camera is boxed in a square frame, which ideally does not look so convincing to look at. Maybe Apple should try changing the design and make it more appealing.
Macotakara does reveal Apple has tweaked the design slightly so that the three rear cameras are at least symmetrical. That said, the large square housing seems completely at odds with the company’s much-loved minimalist design aesthetic.
Perhaps just as surprising, the design isn’t even original. A square triple camera housing has already been implemented by Huawei in the Mate 20 Pro but with a central position which looks a lot better.
It has also been told that the screen sizes of the next-generation iPhones will be the same as their current equivalents: 5.8-inches for the iPhone 11, 6.5-inches for the iPhone 11 Max. There will also be a new version of the XR, although there is no indication yet as to whether it too will feature the three-lens camera.
