Apple has not been able to meet the sales target of iPhones in China and it had also tried to overcome it by lowering the prices last year. But, in a new turn of events, the company has slashed the prices of all iPhones in China all over again bringing the total cost of iPhones to a bare minimum. The new prices are reflecting on the Chinese e-commerce websites like JD.com, GOME and suning.com.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will also come with these discounts and consumers in China can purchase it for around CNY 1,000 less than the previous cost. Although, many will not consider buying this device so many months after launch but the reduction in price will help Apple increase the sale numbers slightly. Also, the e-commerce websites selling these iPhones will have their own individual offers and discounts on each model.
While the price for the cheapest iPhone XS model is still 8,699 yuan on Apple’s official website in mainland China, consumers may buy it for 7,899 yuan on JD.com and 8,088 yuan on GOME.
This is the second time in 2019 that Apple cut iPhone selling prices on Chinese e-commerce sites. In January, sales volume of iPhones on Alibaba’s Tmall.com increased by 76% within two weeks following the announcement of price cuts.
Slower growth of iPhone sales in China last year has hit the company’s financial results. An unnamed industry insider was quoted as saying that although big sales may boost things over the short term, it may negatively impact its high-end brand image.
