A new leak by macrumours says that Apple is possibly working on as much as 4 new iPad models along with the new 7th Generation iPod. The source come from the inside iOS 12.2 which was discovered by Developer Steven Troughton-Smith. He shared the images mentioning the details of iPad 11 where two of those were WiFi operated and the other two were Cellular.
Steven’s tweet said:
In theory, iOS 12.2 references four new iPads in WiFi & Cellular variants (perhaps mini, and 9.7″?), all without Face ID, and a (seventh-gen?) iPod touch with no Touch ID nor Face ID
The new models could be the successors to the current iPads and iPad Pros, with the newest version of iOS. There was also mention about the new iPod written as “iPod 9,1” which could be the version number for the 7th generation as compared to the sixth generation of iPod which was described as “iPod 7,1.”
Apple had recently registered with the Eurasian Economic Commission Database for seven new iPad models and now you have this leak which only proves that Apple is definitely up to something big in the coming months before the usual launch even in September each year.
At this point of time, there is no sign on design and specification of these upcoming iPad models. So, we cannot be sure if these developments are true but there is a high chance that they are credible based on the sources. The company could also be planning to upgrade the iPad Mini 5 model soon and it could be one of those 7 new registered devices.
