Apple Music is expanding the “search by lyrics” feature and lyrics for a limited number of songs in more countries compared to the previous availability for users. The feature can now be accessed by users in additional countries like Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, New Zealand and France.
The lyrics search lets the user search for any song by typing the lyrics and the resulting song will show up on the screen. This is very useful if you have been wondering the name of a certain artist, song or album since a while and cannot remember it. The search will give you the name of the song instantly, but the results can be wrong considering the feature is still very new.
Users can also view the lyrics of a song on the App while listening to it. However, Apple has restricted the lyrics to only a certain number of songs at the moment and it may roll out eventually for more songs in the coming months. Both these features are available for devices running iOS 12 including iPhone, iPad and Mac.
9to5 Mac explains how you can use these features:
To search a song, simply go into Apple Music > Search and type in the snippet of lyrics. Lyrics search, like any modern search, can work even if you get a word out of the phrase incorrectly.
To get lyrics, tap on the now playing card at the bottom of your screen, and scroll down, past the now playing controls and (if available) you’ll see the lyrics for the song.
