App Store saw record breaking sales in the Holiday Week starting from Christmas December 25th upto the New Year’s Eve on January 1st. The news was shared by Apple today where it mentioned that it brought in over $322 million in revenue from the App Store on the New Year itself and around $1.22 billion over the the entire holiday week. The numbers are simply staggering and it shows how much users are willing to spend year-over-year on a wide range of Apps, games and in-app purchases.
The holiday season is usually the peak for the sales of Apple devices like iPads and iPhones since users are buying these products in loads and also using their gift cards to purchase as soon as possible before the offers and discounts end. Also, with the incredible new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max devices launched this year, the expenditure by the users on the App Store has gone up like crazy.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said:
Apple services set new all-time records in multiple categories, including the App Store, Apple Music, Cloud Services, Apple Pay and the App Store’s search ad business. Thanks to the inspiring work of our talented developers and the support of our incredible customers around the world, the App Store finished off an outstanding 2018 and kicked off 2019 with a bang.
The company had also recently made a few changes in the App Store, where users will now be able to gift in-App purchases to others. This could also be a factor for the boost in the revenue and it is a very good sign for Apple for the coming months.
