The next generation of smartphones will likely be foldable and have some of the best feature packed into it. After Samsung unveiled their first foldable phone recently, Google is also joining the race to launch a foldable Pixel phone this year. The information on this development was leaked by a Twitter user named Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin who is known for previous leaks of Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL.
Apparently, Google had already filed patent for the foldable display last year with the US Patent And Trademark Office last year. So it does not comes as a surprise that the company is taking the next step towards achieving the goal of a foldable smartphone. Another image leaked by a Twitter user by the name of @TechNavvi shows the patent with all the markings clearly indicating the case of a foldable display.
Murtazin also mentioned that Google is currently working on 7 prototypes, out of which two phones, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 Xl are already available and the other phones are upgrades of the current Pixel phones and specifically one could be a foldable phone. It is pretty interesting to observe that Google is constantly working on something new and even surprise its fans with a great looking device next year.
There is still a long way to go for all the top companies in the folding display market and see how it actually goes down with the consumers. Also, Google has not given any official details on the plans yet and we will have to wait for any further announcement.
