Xiaomi is a company which is known to turn heads with all the exceptional features they pack in an affordable smartphone. Whether it is battery life or the streamlined UI, they always have a bunch of tricks hidden in their pockets. New reports have been coming in that that claims that the company could now be working on a 48MP camera smartphone and it is expected to be launched in 2019.
The image which shows the smartphone with the ’48MP Camera’ written on the rear was shared by Xiaomi on it’s social media page. Also, it shows to have a single lens instead of the dual lens camera in several of the latest Xiaomi phones. This shows that the company is definitely up to something big in the coming months and may even be ready with the phone by January 2019.
Lately, the focus of pixels has been steadily increasing by the smartphone companies and maybe Xiaomi wants to bring only pixel oriented smartphones culture back in the market. Even the iPhones are coming up with 12MP cameras, with Huawei adding 40-megapixel image sensor in their primary camera for Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro.
Sources say the 48MP camera will house Sony’s IMX586 sensor, that will be the driving force of this smartphone along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. The IMX586 sensors are only 0.8µm in size, but can also merge four pixels into one to simulate the light sensitivity of 1.6µm pixels. Also, they are capable enough to capture slow-mo videos without requiring higger RAM usage inside the sensors.
