For Android users, we have always had to wait to use the App until it is getting updated. This may get annoying for many people because they may have something to do urgently within the App if it starts updating automatically. All of this may change soon as Google has announced a new set of improvements for Android today at the Android Developer Summit.
The new tools on Android will let users use any App while they are being updated without having to wait for it. Google is apparently testing a new set of tools and features for Android and says that it will be a part of Android’s In-App Updates API. The tools will be available to the developers soon once it is all set to be functioning perfectly.
In the Android Developer’s Blog, Stephanie Cuthbertson, Android’s Director of Product Management said:
You’ll have two options with this API; the first is a full-screen experience for critical updates when you expect the user to wait for the update to be applied immediately. The second option is a flexible update, which means the user can keep using the app while the update is downloaded. You can completely customize the update flow so it feels like part of your app.
The feature will also help developers to let users forcefully update the App without being lazy. This way, the developers will be happy that you are using the latest version of the App and the it will be a smooth process for the user who can continue using the App with the update running in the background.
