Snapchat is trying it’s best to gain more users and the company announced that it will bring small scripted shows to the App called ‘Snap Originals’. These shows will be launched in association with Hollywood writers and producers who will bring fresh and exciting stories to the photo sharing platform.
Snapchat has been dealing with the problem of decreasing number of users as almost 52 percent of the users have disappeared because of the stiff competition from Facebook and Instagram. So, the company is trying to revive the App by coming up with fresh ideas and maybe Snap Originals will do the trick to attract more users.
The shows will be in the form of episodes where you will be able to watch a new episode from a particular show everyday. One of the shows that we will see is ‘Growing Up is a Drag’ that will be produced by Bunim/Murray who are creator of Keeping Up With The Kardashians’. This new show will revolve around the coming-of-age of teenage drag stars.
Snapchat also spoke about the other shows that will be aired:
The Dead Girls Detective Agency, which is a supernatural dark comedy about a young woman who must find out how she died. V/H/S, on the other hand, is a horror anthology, while Vivian is a docuseries following the youngest model scout for Wilhelmina.
The videos will be essentially made for mobile viewing and each episode will be approximately 5 mins long. There will be a profile page for each show where the users will be able to access the episodes.
