WhatsApp is looking to take advantage of newly launched Android 9 Pie, which is now available on Pixel phones. Also, Android 9 Pie will eventually be available on all the Android smartphones and taking this into consideration, WhatsApp will be soon unveiling new features for the popular messaging platform.
WhatsApp is planning to bring the new in-line images for the notification panel on Android 9 Pie devices. In this feature, the users can get a preview of the image in the notification panel itself, where the image will displayed in a expandable and collapse format to user. The feature is still being tested in the Beta phase and we don’t know when it will be made official by the company.
The feature is really useful, however, it will not apply to GIFs or videos and this may not go down well with a few users on the messaging App as everyone is actively receiving and sending them among friends and family.
WhatsApp is aiming to make the the user experience more friendly for all Android users with these new updates. Some of these include the ‘Swipe to Reply’ which allows the users to reply to messages in the notifications panel by swiping left and also the plans to launch a Dark Mode for the App, which will reduce strain on the eyes for those who use the app in the night.
We also got to know from WABetaInfo about the new sticker pack called ‘Biscuit’ that will be launched by WhatsApp soon. This sticker pack is already popular on Facebook Messenger and will soon debut on WhatsApp.
