A new report states that Apple Watches might go for a design change in the Apple Watch with the introduction of solid state buttons with haptic feedback. The device will retain the same button configuration as existing Apple Watches but these buttons won’t physically click as before.
The switch to solid state buttons in the Watch will be similar to the conversion of the iPhone’s home button to a solid-state design in 2016’s iPhone 7. These buttons will be touch sensitive where rather than reacting to the user’s touch by physically moving back and forth, the new buttons will vibrate slightly under the fingertip, using the haptic effect Apple calls the Taptic Engine.
Sources say that this design update maybe be included in the 2019 watch. We will have to wait and see what the company announces this fall.
