For all these years, Google has been the No.1 place to work receiving around 1.1 million applications annually. The new ranking list from the career site LinkedIn is out and it’s very evident that Amazon has grabbed the top spot from Google.
The list shows Google in the 2nd place with Facebook, Tesla and Apple in 3rd, 5th and 6th places :
Google is know for its incredible employee benefits ranging from free food, fitness centers, organized events, massage rooms, gym glasses and arcades as among the top perks, in addition to standard benefits like 401(k) match and a generous medical insurance plan.
Amazon has been on a role since the last couple of years, with Amazon Prime delivering high quality content including tv shows and movies. Also, Amazon’s inventors have won more than 2,300 patents since 2017 and the company is soon teaming up with JP Morgan and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway to take on healthcare.
Compared to Google’s offerings of free cafés and rock climbing walls, Amazon’s CEO of world-wide consumer Jeffrey Wilke who oversees 90% of the workforce said “You won’t find a bunch of marble floors or wood-paneled entryways here. We don’t want to spend money on things that customers aren’t willing to pay for.”
LinkedIn’s ranking is based on data from its more than 500 million members, based on metrics such as the rate of people applying for jobs through LinkedIn, employee retention and the rate of profiles visiting a company’s career page.
