The wait is over. Apple has finally unveiled their next flagship phone, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus is finally here. Despite a lot of rumors and speculations regarding their launch date, specifications and a possible delay, Apple finally announced the device at their keynote speech on the 7th of September. The iPhone 7 will be available for pre-orders starting tomorrow that is the 9th of September and will be available for retail purchases from 16th of September at your nearest Apple Store. Let us have a look at what the iPhone 7 is all about.
The Headphone Jack
To start with the most controversial first, Apple has actually removed the Headphone Jack and the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will ship with a pair of AirPod which are Apple latest wireless headphones. The headphones can be charged using the lightning cable and the device runs on the phones infrared sensors, detecting them as they are placed in each ear and then connects them to give full functionality.
Moving on to the camera, this is one of the bigger upgrades the iPhone 7 has adapted to since its predecessors. The new 12 MP camera is said to be more powerful in terms of natural lighting as well better optimized in terms of battery consumption. The bigger version which is the iPhone 7 Plus comes with the Dual Lens Camera setup which is basically two 12 MP cameras. One of them has been optimized to take better wide-angle shots while the other has been setup as a telephoto camera which allows the users to zoom almost 10X times without breaking the pixels.
The Home Button:
This year Apple has introduced a touch-sensitive Home Button to the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. The button now gives the user a vibration based taptic feedback.
So far, Apple has announced 2 models of the iPhone 7, that is the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Each of those will have 3 variants. Each model will come in a 32 GB, 128 GB and the 256 GB versions. Here we see that Apple has removed the 16 GB and the 64 GB variants from the current lineup of iPhones.
The pricing for the iPhone 7 will be as follow:
- $649 for the 32 GB Variant
- $749 for the 128 GB Variant
- $849 for the 256 GB Variant
The pricing for the iPhone 7 Plus will be as follow:
- $769 for the 32 GB Variant
- $869 for the 128 GB Variant
- $969 fir the 256 GB Variant.
