It looks like WhatsApp is planning to roll out a video calling feature very soon but there is no news about its official release date. According to leaked screenshots of the WhatsApp video calling feature from private beta versions for iPhone by German website Macerkopf, one will be able to make the video call using either their phone’s front or rear camera. The interface will be quite similar to the one seen in the voice calling feature and it is also expected to have a multi-tab feature so as to make it easy for one to switch between different conversations and groups.

The report says that currently the official version 2.12.12 of WhatsApp is available in the iOS App Store, however, developers along with beta testers are currently working on version. It also says that the colour green will become more dominant in WhatsApp for iOS to make it more consistent with the Android version.

Around 2 months ago, WhatsApp announced that its users can backup conversations, photos and videos to Google Drive. Recently, the company added some features to utilise the 3D Touch feature of iPhone 6s and the version for older iPhones got a newly designed settings menu. Some new emojis were also introduced along with the option to use low data for WhatsApp calls.
