Apple aims to repeat the history that it made in China as the American company plans more than a twofold expansion of its sales in India. The company expects to achieve this target each year over the next three years.
In China, October ‘13 saw a fourfold increase in Apple’s market share compared to the previous month. This was owing to the rise in sales by mass retailers and distributors.
In India, the Delhi-based Optiemus Group has been disclosed to be the new distributor of Apple. Optiemus will be joining Apple’s four other Indian distributors – Redington, Ingram Micro, Rashi Peripherals and Brightstar.
As a result of Apple’s deal with Optiemus, the company shares a distributor with its rival, South Korea-based Samsung which surpasses Apple to be number 1 in the smartphone market in India. It can’t be anything but interesting to see where this competition goes as times passes by.
Let’s see if Apple is able to claim the #1 spot with this move.
