After the launch of new products on October 16th, Apple will officially launch the new payment service, Apple Pay, that utilises phones NFC and Touch ID for security on October 18th. Apple has also started the training of its store employees and partners on how the service would work. It has partnered with a few retailers and restaurants which will support Apple Pay service when it’s launched. One such partner is McDonald’s that will have the service available for both dine-in and drive-through. 9to5Mac has sourced the information on how the service would work at McDonald’s drive-through.
The image from McDonald’s Apple Pay training material shows how an order would be completed without handing over the expensive phone/device to the McDonald employee. The employee would extend a red NFC reader through the window for payment on which the users will scan their phone. The 4 lights on the reader would light up along with a beep sound that would indicate a successful payment.
Apple Pay will be launched on devices that have an NFC chip which are iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. Apple Pay on Apple Watch will help in extending the service on iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5.
