Blooming Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi have recently been quite popular in India, with phones that satisfy customers’ needs at a substantially low price tag, and the Redmi 1S is the same, costing only $99 (6,000 Indian Rupees). The device was available for pre-registration a few days ago and finally hit the market yesterday, selling out in a little over 4 Seconds with 40,000 units sold.
For obvious reasons though, quite a few fans of the company took to their Facebook page to complain about the shortage in stock, and how they couldn’t get their hands on the device yesterday.
A method many people used to snap up the device while it was still available was using the services provided by BuyHatke, which automatically buys new devices for customers as soon as they came out. The number of people signing up for this service also showed that the demand for the Redmi 1S was well over 250,000.
Going over the specs of the Redmi 1S, it sports a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 500 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of storage, an 8MP Camera, and a 4.7″ 720p display.
Registrations for the next flash sale start today at 6PM India time.
