Next-Generation iPad Air Will Feature 2GB RAM

According to a new report from Taiwan’s TechNews, next-generation iPad Air will feature a memory boost by having double the RAM compared to the current model. iPad Air 2 is expected to have 2GB RAM in comparison to 1GB RAM in the first generation iPad Air.

The memory bump may be due to split screen multitasking feature that will come with iOS 8 which would require more RAM than the current 1GB.

TechNews report also talks about no RAM upgrade for the new iPad Mini, which would continue to have 1GB RAM.

Last week there were reports about both new iPads entering production. They’re expected to launch in October.
